The Book Bus Project - Field Conditions

Where do we stay?

The Book Bus is a mobile project moving from one site to the next on a weekly basis. Where we stay depends on what's available, there may be the offer of a room in our hosts' homes, the Book Bus itself is fully equipped with tents and camp kitchen to be self-supporting in the field; so expect anything from a tent in the wild to family stay accommodation to local hostel.

Food can be prepared on the bus and you will be involved in cooking and/or kitchen duties. Where possible we will engage the services of a local chef who can prepare for us food typical to the region.

Venture Safety:

Emergency satellite communication and UK head office backup.
Major Incident Plan (MIP) rehearsed in our head office and tested.
Following over 20 years worldwide expedition experience, we have a tried and tested network of local resources to call upon in times of trouble.
Emergency evacuation and personal travel insurance: it's crucial that everyone is covered. Our travel insurance providers are specialists in adventure travel and we believe that they are the best in the field; they know us and our itineraries, and the policy is tailor-made.
