Venture Overview
Some of the more advanced cultures in the world existed in the
Americas before European adventurers conquered them. The Mayan and the
Aztec civilizations left their mark in Mexico and Central America, they
were highly organised and were undoubtedly advanced thinkers.
The Mayans developed a written language and a highly accurate calendar,
they practised advanced mathematics and constructed huge temples throughout
the region. Unfortunately, the Mayan civilization faded away leaving the
jungles to envelope their architecture. The Aztecs were still around when
the first ships sailed in from Europe. The Aztecs ruled central Mexico
from their capital, Tenochtitlán, where Mexico City is now. They
also had a written language and a calendar so precise that it might put
modern astronomers to shame. Aztec Maya Venture puts this magnificent
history into context and helps you appreciate the wonders of these long-gone
civilisations.

Join our conservation projects in Belize and provide direct aid to wildlife
protection initiatives on the Caribbean coast.
- Discovery expedition exploring pyramids, volcanoes
and Caribbean jungle. Six weeks of adventure through Mexico,
Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and Costa Rica.
The expedition explores Aztec temples with their famed sacrificial alters,
the pyramids of the ancient Maya, Spanish colonial cities, soaring volcanoes,
pristine beaches, Caribbean islands and tropical jungle. Adventure activities
include mountain biking, white-water rafting and an optional PADI dive
course in the Caribbean.

This Venture is a comprehensive introduction to
travelling in Latin America so when it’s all over, why not stay on and
explore a bit more? Central and South America are huge areas and countries
like Ecuador and Peru are within easy reach of your Venture finishing
point. Alternatively you can fly home via Cuba or North America and continue
to make use of your Spanish skills. Airline connections are also available
to incorporate South America into a Round the World travel plan.
