Field Conditions

Where do we stay?:

• Hostels and guesthouses whilst travelling in India
• Under the stars in the Thar desert
• Mandore bungalows during the Rajasthan project
• Maharaja’s fort during the Rewa project
• On board during Ganges sail-trek
• Park lodges in Chitwan, Nepal
• Sherpa Tea houses whilst on trek to Everest.
• All meals are provided from the Venture food budget and will reflect the local flavours.

How do we get around?:

• Mostly by train in India (including several overnight services)
• Buses when train service not available
• Camel in the Thar desert
• Bicycle during the Rajasthan project
• Jeep and elephant in Bandhavgargh National Park
• Boat on the Ganges
• Bus when travelling through Nepal.
• Flights to and from Lukla on Everest Base Camp trek.
• Various rickshaws, taxis and buses in towns and cities

Adventure Activities:

• Whitewater rafting in Nepal
• Tiger safari in Bandhavgargh National Park
• Ganges sail-trek
• Wildlife safari in Chitwan, Nepal
• Everest Base camp in Nepal

Optional Activities:

• Kayaking in Nepal

Group Size:

• 8 to 16 Venturers.
• 2 VentureCo Leaders plus local guides and project co-ordinators.

Venture Safety

• Direct communication and UK head office backup.
• Major Incident Plan (MIP) rehearsed in our head office and tested.
• Following over 20 years of worldwide expedition experience we have a tried and tested network of local resources to call upon in times of trouble.
• Emergency evacuation and personal travel insurance: it’s crucial that everyone is covered. Our travel insurance providers are specialists who cover such events as the Paris-Dakar rally and round the world balloon attempts.
