Field Conditions

Accommodation:

• Lima hotel 3 nights
• Family stays during the language school (10 nights).
• Camping whilst on project and when on the expedition trek (13 nights + 8 nights).
• Hostal (guesthouses owned and run by local families) accommodation in Cusco between phases and at the expedition conclusion (8 nights).

• All meals are provided and will reflect the local flavours.

Transport:

• Local flights (Lima to Cusco return).
• Buses around the Cusco area and to/from project.
• Mountain bikes in the Sacred Valley.
• Andean train from Machu Picchu to Cusco.
• Jeeps to Choquequirao Inca trail-head.

Group Size:

• 8 to 16 Venturers.
• 1 Leader plus local guides and project co-ordinators.

Venture Safety:

• Emergency satellite communication and UK head office backup.
• Major Incident Plan (MIP) rehearsed in our head office and tested.
• Following over 20 years expedition experience in Peru, we have a tried and tested network of local resources to call upon in times of trouble.
• Emergency evacuation and personal travel insurance: it’s crucial that everyone is covered. Our travel insurance providers are specialists who cover such events as the Paris-Dakar rally and round the world balloon attempts.
