Where to next? How about India...it seems to be the country of choice at the moment with Channel 4's Indian Winter season occupying our screens.
India is such a vast, magical and mysterious place that you could quite easily have a top 500 but that would take me all week.... so here are VentureCo's top 5 for India:
1. Hampi
A village of extraordinary beauty..situated within a boulder strewn arid landscape along a mango-tree lined river, this world heritage centre is home to a vast number of 14th century ruins spread over 25 sq km. Literally millions of boulders cover the ground making for a unique and breath-taking landscape. The huge hills formed by these boulders unsuprisingly make it India's bouldering capital.
2. Sikkim
An often forgotten state nestled in between Nepal, China and Bhutan. It is the least populated state in India and the second smallest after Goa. The main draw card here are the mighty Himalaya, dwarfing and domineering wherever you are.. Check out the Yumthang Valley in spring when the colourful and plentiful rhododendrons will be in bloom. Mesmerising.
3. Rajasthan
From an often forgotten state to a never forgotten state...Rajasthan is India's jewel and rightly so..it never disappoints and offers sights and cities like nowhere else. From romantic Udaipur to camel crazy Pushkar and from the blue of Jodhpur to the pink of Jaipur.. A must see!
4. Delhi
A surprising choice and not a city you would want to spend more that a couple of days in but a definite must-see.. Chaotic, noisy, dirty, upsetting, unforgettable!
5. Andaman & Nicobar islands
Home to India's most beautiful beaches these islands lie closer to South East Asia than India.
With just 36 inhabited islands out of 572 you're sure to find a deserted beach or two...trekking, scuba diving and snorkeling here is second to none.
You can visit all these places and many more with a tailor made trip to India or a horse riding challenge to Rajasthan.
